A Word From Our Editor...

Teen Pregnancy……….

Teen pregnancy is on the rise in the African American community. As parents are we doing all that we can to help steer our children away from becoming sexual active at such a young age? Have you sought out events and programs for your teen to participate in with their peers? At least once a month I’m receiving emails of upcoming events within the community just for teens. More than before I am seeing a large number of events for both male and females. These types of events will allow the teens to join breakout workshops that even allow the parents to join. Now if you’re the type of parent that objects to a lot of things you hear from your teen or friends then maybe you should not attend so that your teen can be a open and feel comfortable enough to participate. If you think or know that your child is sexual active would you provider birth control or condoms? Would you provide them without explanation on why you are providing them?
There are tons of questions that we have to get answers to equip ourselves in order to be able to help our kids through their teenage years. Are you ready to put the work in?
