Writing Workshops

As the spring approaches events, workshops, and conferences are being developed to get the community active. For writers this is a great opportunity outside of book tours, speaking engagements and other engagements to give back to the community.
It may not seem like the easiest event but if you can design the workshop then facilitating will be a breeze.

A couple examples are:
1. How easy it is to create poetry.
• You can suggest that participants bring inspiration, ideas and questions on what a poem is.
• Utilizing a library in the area is a wonderful place to facilitate and promote the event.
• Providing handouts with basic information will assist them in the future.
• After the presentation and construction time allow people to share their works.

2. Deciding on a writing career.
• Compose a panel of writers in different writing markets.
• Generate questions that cover training, expertise and advice.
• Allow a Q&A segment.
• Share bio and history with attendants

3. Writing a blog.
• Find out what types of blogs people are interested in.
• Display key components of a successful blogs.
• Ways to build support through subscribers.
• Tactics to get sponsors for the blog.

4. Key components needed to complete a book.
• Outline the resources used to create your book.
• Ask publishing companies sponsor the event by utilizing their facility,
• Work through a sample of table of contents, outline and introduction
• Conduct a Q&A
It is that simple.
I would love to hear that every writer that asked for support in sales took the time to help someone else develop or grow their skill. This is a awesome way to show your thanks to those who support your career.
