A Conversation with Victoria Christopher Murray …
Author of The Deal, The Dance, and the Devil.

This month TR would like to thank Victoria Christopher Murray for stopping by. Victoria will give us a little taste of her latest novel The Deal, The Dance, and the Devil. Before we get into your latest novel let's give the readers a little back ground on Victoria Christopher Murray.

TR - How did your writing career begin?

I guess you could say that my career began when I was seven years old. When I wrote my first masterpiece called Betty and the Witch. My teacher enjoyed it so much that the entire second grade performed it as a play and I never looked back.

TR - A couple of questions that readers and aspiring writers want to know from all authors is do you write full time, and how did you get started?
Yes, I write full time; I've been writing full time since 1997. The how did I get started is a hard question. Or maybe it's a simple question because all I have is a simple answer. I just started. I just turned on the computer and started writing. There's no formula or magic answer - you just have to do it.

TR - How many books do you have under your belt now?
Fourteen. Ten adult novels, and four young adult novels.

TR – You also wrote a young adult series Divine Diva’s correct? My daughter (Victoria) and her friends loved this series and asked will there be anymore young novels from VCM?
Unfortunately, there will not be anymore teen novels. The publisher canceled that contract after the books didn't do well.

TR - I think all of your novels are considered Christian fiction. Is this what you set out for when your first book was published?
No, I never set out to write Christian fiction and I've always been challenged by that label.

TR - Ok now on to your latest novel The Deal, The Dance, and the Devil. This novel was truly a great read. I think there a quite a few Evia and Adam Langstons out there. Please tell our readers how this novel came to life?
I posted a question to my Facebook friends about would they take such a deal. And the answers were so interesting (most answers were hilarious, and some were very serious) that when it came around to contract time, I decided to turn those responses into a novel.

TR – Please give readers a brief synopsis of The Deal, the Dance and the Devil.
The Deal, the Dance and the Devil is about a couple who've worked their way to the top, only to find their lives crumbling as a result of the recession. When it looks like they're about to lose everything, the wife is faced with a proposal that is so tempting, but so dangerous.

TR – How long did it take to complete this novel?
The same amount of time that it takes me to complete all my novels - one year.

TR – Will we hear more from the Langston’s? How about Shay Shaunte?
I hope not! I'm not a big fan of sequels, though I know readers enjoy them. But I love to challenge myself with each book I write and I don't find myself as challenged when I'm writing sequels.

TR – What’s next for Victoria Christopher Murray?
I'm working on my 2012 novel which is due to my editor in three months. I don't have a title for it yet. (I never have a title.) I'm also working on a new project with about twenty other authors called A Chapter A Month. We're all excited about that because it keeps us in touch with our fans throughout the year.

TR – How can readers contact you?
I have two websites: www.victoriachristophermurray.com and www.achapteramonth.com

Victoria thank you for stopping by and wish you continued success. Thank you so much!
